Dan Allison, BS, CSCS, PICP1
Dan Allison has been in the strength training industry for four years. He received his BS in Exercise Science with a minor in Community Health from Western Michigan University. While in school, he also became Poliquin Level I Certified and certified through the NSCA.
He volunteered countless hours with Western Michigan’s strength and conditioning program. During this time he worked with various teams such as men’s basketball, baseball, ice hockey, and soccer teams, as well as women's softball and soccer teams. He also created his own private training service out of his garage to gain hands-on experience during college, known as Allison Athletics. He worked with military personnel, powerlifters, general population and provided full training/diets for pre-contest bodybuilders.
Dan practices what he preaches to his clients. After losing seventy pounds a few years ago, he now maintains a body fat percentage at or near 10% year-round. He is a big proponent of the Paleolithic (a.k.a. Caveman) approach to nutrition. He currently stays competitive in powerlifting, with personal best contest lifts of 661 squat, 396 bench press, 633 deadlift in the 220lb weight class. He has previous experience competing in football, ice hockey, baseball, and bodybuilding, with plans to compete in Strongman soon.
In addition to his "in the trenches" experience, Dan stays busy furthering his knowledge of training and nutrition daily, by keeping up with current articles, peer-reviewed journals, books, and attending seminars. His influences are Jonny Bowden, Loren Cordain, Louie Simmons, Paul Chek, Charles Poliquin, and Stuart McGill, amongst many others.
